On Wednesday night, after Trump's vice presidential candidate Mike Pence was declared the victor of Tuesday's debate, Meyers gave Trump a little bit of praise on Late Night.
Or at the very least, it's a psychological advantage for the Trump campaign after one of Trump's roughest weeks.
Whereas Pence was cool and collected during the event but denied everything Kaine said, even in the face of Trump's own words.
"Didn't Mike Pence do a great job?"
"The way Tim Kaine and Hillary Clinton continue to take Donald Trump's statements out of context was something I wasn't going to tolerate during the debate", Pence said of the Democratic ticket. But Meyers praised Trump on Wednesday night - but as a way to get under the candidate's skin.
Unlike Trump, Pence showed himself to be a seasoned, reasoned politician.
Kaine also responded to critics of his own debate performance, and suggestions that he interrupted too often and missed opportunities. "I mean, I gotta admit - I am Irish".

Bashar al-Assad says ´no option´ but to expel rebels from Aleppo
Konashenkov said Russian forces won't have time to use that communications line if it sees the Syrian regime being targeted. Otherwise, he said, he would "continue the fight with the rebels till they leave Aleppo ".
A CNN/ORC instant poll following the debate showed Pence performed better than Kaine, with viewers declaring him the victor, 48% to 42%.
"You know, I said last night, I never played hockey, but a little bit of that debate where I was just a goalie", he said.
"When Donald Trump says Mexicans are rapists and criminals, Mexican immigrants, when Donald Trump says about your judge, a Hoosier judge, he said that Judge Curiel was unqualified to hear a case because his parents were Mexican, I can't imagine how you could defend that", Kaine said.
And Hillary Clinton chimed in from a fundraiser in Washington, D.C. "I think the folks watching it definitely understood that Gov. Pence wouldn't defend his running mate".
Clinton campaign aides say there's no second-guessing about Kaine's aggressive strategy.
They argue their main goal was to show that Trump's own running mate can't back his views on Muslims, on women, on foreign policy - and they feel that Kaine achieved that.
