With Google Home, you are now in charge of asking the questions, dish out instructions, ask for repetition of steps, and even move on to the next step.
You can now pick a recipe using Google Assistant on your Android smartphone or using Google Search on iOS or Android and then send the recipe to your Google Home device. The company says the toolkit is ideal for your own hardware prototype "like a self-built robot or a voice-enabled smart mirror", so obviously the technology isn't ready yet to go commercial. One example that was dreamt up by Google and a company called Deeplocal is a robotic mocktail mixer with Google Assistant built-in so that you could speak to it and have it make your favorite mixed drink.
To get started, visit the Google Assistant SDK website for developers, download the SDK, and start building. As you can see in the announcement video below, developers can use the Assistant not just to do the usual Google things, but also to use Actions to directly control the gadget - like telling your dog feeder to drop some treats.
To recite recipe with your Google Assistant, simply select the option "send to Google Home".

It's pulling these recipes from the likes of Bon Appetit and Food Network so there's bound to be something for everyone. This will ensure that the recipe gets saved to the Google smart speaker to be used now or later. However, you have to remember that the step-by-step instructions on Google Home will not appear for recipes that you find outside of Google Assistant or Google Search.
