The National Weather Service in La Crosse says the first round of storms is expected mainly between 1pm and 6pm this afternoon with a few storms capable of large hail and damaging winds.

The severe weather risk will shift to the eastern half of Oklahoma Friday.

"Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary concerns with this activity".

AccuWeather reports following isolated damaging storms Monday night, there will be a heightened risk of unsafe storms across the central and southern Plains late Tuesday into Wednesday. The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded our area to an "enhanced" risk of severe weather, which earlier was only a marginal risk. Jefferson County and parts of other southern counties are included in an area of enhanced risk for a severe weather outbreak, during Tuesday and Tuesday evening. There's also some cloud cover this morning that may dissipate this morning as well so we'll call it mostly sunny today and highs will be in the upper 80s-low 90s.

Stay weather aware! There are more storm chances for Thursday through Saturday.

We will have a break Wednesday afternoon before our next storm arrives.

Thursday is likely to give us a chance to dry out and continue cooling. However, it doesn't appear high end severe weather will be as likely as cooler air intrudes into the area.

Sat: High: 72 Low: 54 Partly cloudy.
