President Donald Trump wasted no time Wednesday morning blasting "sick" comedian Kathy Griffin for her photo featured a bloody and decapitated head of him.

Griffin faced immediate backlash after the photos were released Tuesday. She added that she is taking the image down from her social media accounts and will be asking the photographer to do the same.

Griffin, after first defending her decision to partake in the photo shoot, saying she was "merely mocking the Mocker in Chief" in a tweet that has since been deleted, last night issued a video apology, begging forgiveness and admitting she went too far.

Griffin, who helped with CNN's New Year's Eve coverage, has apologized, saying that the brief video was "too disturbing" and wasn't amusing. "I understand how it offends people, it wasn't amusing, I get it".

See what she had to say in the video below.

Trump said in a Tweet on Wednesday that Griffin "should be ashamed of herself". I've made a lot of mistakes in my career.

Kathy Griffin posed for this photo with a bloodied replica of the U.S. president's head. I will continue. I ask your forgiveness.

A publicist for Shields did not respond to a request for comment.

CNN is reviewing Griffin's role as host of it's annual New Year's Eve coverage, according to a statement from the company. She also promised to ask the photographer, Tyler Shields, to take down the photo.

Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Trump's one-time campaign rival Hillary Clinton, called the photo "vile and wrong".

Squatty Potty, a line of footstools for toilets, said Tuesday it was "shocked and disappointed" and was pulling a new ad campaign starring Griffin.

Additionally, Route 66 Casino Hotel in New Mexico announced on Facebook it had canceled a performance by Griffin scheduled for July at the resort.

Griffin's video made Trump seethe.
