Since the Final went to the best-of-seven format in 1939, teams leading 2-0 have won 45 of 50 series. They also understand they can't afford to have their offense go dormant for almost two periods.

NBC Sports' coverage of the 2017 Stanley Cup Final continues tomorrow night, Wednesday, May 31, with Game 2 at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN from PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa. Pre-game coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN with a special two-hour edition of NHL Live. Both teams will have two days to regroup and travel to Music City for Game 3, which will be at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday.

Rinne went into the final with the stingiest numbers in net this postseason and a favorite to win the Conn Smythe trophy as postseason MVP. "Like I said, I think there's things we can do better".

Jake Waddell, who was in Pittsburgh with family, said he was charged with disorderly conduct, disrupting a meeting, and possessing instruments of crime. We're down 2-nothing. We're coming back in our barn, and we don't lose here.

If the Predators don't get it together back home in "Smashville", it might only be two.

Penguins forward Jake Guentzel has tied Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final against Nashville at 1-1 late in the first period. It is to laugh that Penguins coach Mike Sullivan considered making him a healthy scratch for Game 1 of the final, then started him on the fourth line.

Murray dominating goalie battle: Penguins rookie Murray is outplaying his veteran counterpart, and it isn't close.

After watching Game 2, a phrase that my Dad who served in the Army for 20 years used to say popped into my head: SSDD (Same.er, Stuff.Different Day). At the other end, Rinne looked like he couldn't wait for the period to end. In Game 1 he was beaten clean by Malkin on a power play, had no chance on a Conor Sheary goal, sent what should have been an easy rebound into a teammate's leg for the third goal, and was beaten clean by Jake Guentzel for the victor. After going the entire third round without scoring, the Penguins rookie has found his touch again.

So, with two out and a runner on second base in the second inning, Quintana figured he could sneak a curveball by him. He now sits tied at third in the league in saves with 13, boasting a highly impressive 0.83 ERA from the bullpen.

Warriors' Steve Kerr returns to the bench to coach Game 2
Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant , who scored 28 and 38 points in Game 1, proved to be the major difference between the two teams. Two teams that believe they can improve on their opening performance hook up against Sunday in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

Gareth Bale is not 100%, as the Welsh player is in pain, having returned too early from ligament surgery. Will Real Madrid make it back-to-back triumphs?

Some goals that squeaked through Rinne were frankly hard to explain. With the way Murray has been playing, it was a goal Rinne needed to have. Pittsburgh's opportunistic play, and extremely bad goaltending from Rinne, turned this game on its head in a very similar way to Game 1. The Predators outshot the Penguins 18-12 in the first and 14-7 in the second. There's a bit of a changeling quality to this group as opposed to the one that beat San Jose in six games to win the Cup last spring. Rinne was chased and Nashville was left reeling from the offensive onslaught by the Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins rarely tested the hottest goaltender in the playoffs in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against Nashville.

"There's no frustration", Subban said. "As a goalie, it's important that you feel good going into the night". That's it. It's done.

"For me, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity", Rinne said "I've played a long time and this is my first time having a chance to play for the Cup".

When asked if he could translate Malkin's comments, Subban smiled.

As for Crosby, Subban said the Penguins captain should expect to see more of him.

"Pekka has been excellent for us all year, like I said", Laviolette responded.
