In a joint piece for the Washington Post, they raised concerns about the President's "unmoored behaviour", writing: "America's leaders and allies are asking themselves yet again whether this man is fit to be president".
In their op-ed, Scarborough and Brzezinski, who have had a long relationship with Mr. Trump, denied that this had happened.
"We ignored their desperate pleas", the two claimed. During the presidential campaign, Trump believed former Fox News host Megyn Kelly treated him unfairly during a debate and said she had "blood coming out of her wherever".
The hosts, who also published a column on the Washington Post website on Friday, said they had known Mr Trump for more than a decade and had "fond memories" of their relationship, but that he has changed in the past two years. Scarborough said he and Brzezinski refused.
On Friday, he called "Morning Joe" a "bad show". If anybody's a lawyer in the house and if you think I have a good lawsuit, because I feel like we do.
"At no time did we threaten either Joe or Mika or their children in connection with our reporting on the story".
