Belize and the Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula should expect rainfall to begin midday Monday with rainfall spreading inland through the day.
Residents and visitors from north of Veracruz to near Tampico, Mexico, should start making the necessary preparations for the storm to make landfall with flooding rain, damaging winds and an inundating storm surge. It becomes a hurricane when its sustained winds are 74 miles per hour.
Heavy rainfall and flash flooding is possible across the Yucatan and parts of Belize.
Franklin is the sixth named storm in the Atlantic so far this year.
Franklin was expected to come ashore sometime Monday night, possibly near hurricane strength, then cross over the peninsula into the Gulf of Campeche by Tuesday on a path toward central Mexico. The visible-light image, captured by the MODIS instrument aboard Aqua, showed Franklin's western quadrant over the Yucatan Peninsula as Franklin's center remained over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. Farmers are also urged to protect animals and crops, and people living in or near flood-prone areas are urged to seek shelter at places designated as such, or with family or friends in safe areas.

On the forecast track, the center of Franklin will pass well north of Honduras Monday and then approach the east coast of the Yucatan peninsula by late afternoon.
A tropical storm warning was posted for the Mexican coast from Chetumal to Sabancuy.
According to The Weather Channel, "high pressure in the southern U.S. should remain strong enough that Franklin will not directly affect the US".
The height of the 2017 hurricane season will be from mid-August through mid-October since hurricanes can form in the Atlantic and Carribean easier due to the high heat.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs until November 30.
