It's official. In about six weeks, Microsoft's servers will start pushing out the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update to users worldwide.
Windows Mixed Reality is possibly the most interesting feature arriving in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. The Windows headsets also incorporate sensor technology that Microsoft developed for its HoloLens augmented-reality headsets.
Since then, Microsoft has released four feature updates, with the next release expected in September, called the Fall Creators Update or version 1709. Windows 10 was designed as a service, whereby feature updates are required a couple times a year.
The Fall Creators Update will bring with it a number of enhancements to the Windows 10 experience including vastly improved inking. There's also a new Find my Pen feature, which basically just tells you the last place that you were when you used your pen. Win10 will also offer "Game Mode", which allows video gamers to devote the full processing power of their computers to what they are playing, as if it was an Xbox game console, the company said.

Underneath, it promises better security protection - most notably against the scourge of ransomware - but also support for OneDrive Files on Demand, which presents files on Windows Explorer without taking up local storage. This will be ideal for those users who are planning on playing Xbox Play Anywhere games. But with a price tag of $3,000, Windows-based mixed reality was a niche market made up of tech-savvy enterprises, developers and deep-pocketed enthusiasts. The headset will cost $350 with controllers costing an extra $100 each.
