Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah will hold a meeting of party senior leaders in Mangaluru on October 4.
According to sources, Mr. Shah will review the progress of various organisational programmes suggested by him during his last visit to the State in August. "Election ladna or jeetna to chalta rehta hai, par party ka aur kya role hona chahiye ye unka (Modi) is par unka dhyan tha, (Fighting and winning elections keeps going on, but PM focused on the fact that party has a role beyond politics)" Jaitley said.
With the government and the party embracing Upadhyaya's plank of 'antyodaya' (upliftment of the last man), the executive is expected to cite a number of measures taken by the Union and the BJP-ruled states for the poor's welfare.
"There is a gap between PM's rhetoric and reality on the ground", said Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari. "The Prime Minister said that contesting election is just one of the several responsibilities of a political party and we should use this opportunity to ensure that democracy goes beyond the elections". He said that people are looking towards BJP for change.
