A 10-year-old boy identified as Israr Ahmad was killed in Kirni sector after suffering multiple injuries due to Pakistani shelling, while four others were wounded.

"Indian troops guarding the border effectively retaliated", they said.

Till reports last came in, shelling and firing exchanges were on in the area.

Pakistan has violated ceasefire a number of times in the last few months.

Twelve civilians, including two women and two teenage girls, were wounded on the Indian side of the heavily militarised Line of Control (LoC) that divides the restive Himalayan region.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mehbboba Mufti has expressed grief and anguish over killing of two civilians during cross LoC shelling in Poonch district.

This came a day after Pakistan summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner over the alleged ceasefire violations by the Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC).

The Ministry also showed strong concern over continued unprovoked firing by Pakistan security forces across LoC and worldwide boundary in violation of 2003 Ceasefire Understanding. The officials said that rescue teams sent to worst affected villages of Kerni, Shahpur and Dhigwar started work immediately.

Three civilians were killed in Indian-controlled Kashmir, while one on Pakistan-administered Kashmir. "By making such false claims and blatant threats, are India's leaders attempting to provoke a conflict with Pakistan?" she asked.

Several people also got injured and an Army vehicle got damaged in the unprovoked firing by Paksitan.
