It's too easy, and really does no good to use Julian Edelman's absence for the excuse as to why the Patriots have been so awful in the red zone as of late.

Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa set a record for most sacks by an NFL player through his first 20 games in the league. Over the previous three games, however, that percentage had dipped to 45.45. Now, the focus of weakness shifts to the red zone offense.

Hogan has 33 catches for 438 yards and five touchdowns this season. He found Rob Gronkowski for the 72nd touchdown between the pair over their careers, and spread the ball out to eight different receivers on the day, highlighted by an 85-yard day afternoon from running back James White.

Hogan, one of the Patriots' top two receivers, suffered the injury with 3:27 remaining in the fourth quarter on a 3-yard pass from quarterback Tom Brady over the middle. After talking with trainers and appearing to be in pain on the sideline, Hogan left for the locker room.

With the game tied at 7 in the second quarter, the Patriots special teams unit forced a safety on a punt return to take a 9-7 lead with just over nine minutes to play in the game.

Fortunately, for Hogan and the Patriots, they have a bye week coming up.

A last-minute comeback attempt by the Chargers fell short deep in Patriots territory when Jonathan Jones intercepted a pass intended for Travis Benjamin. After touching the punt at his own 11-yard line and scooping up the ball at the 8-yard line, Benjamin made a decision to run backwards to create some separation.
