Castro, a student at the University of North Texas, took a picture of the overflowing crowd before driving away from the apartment complex.

According to witnesses, students were jumping inside the small and crowded apartment, causing it to collapse. Many guests captured the melee on their cellphones and several videos of the incident were later posted on social media.

Police say those hurt only suffered minor injuries.

"I have nowhere to go".

NBC reported that two tenants drove to the police station to report the party - which was so loud the apartment shook. "That's life threatening. If we were in our living room, we wouldn't have made it out because by what we've seen, it's just completely gone".

The floor of a Denton apartment unit collapsed during a party early Sunday morning, with video showing the cave-in that forced approximately 50 people out of their North Texas homes.

The residents in the apartment below had just left minutes before, in order to make a noise complaint about the party with the Denton Police Department.

"Everybody was screaming and in total shock they didn't know what do", said Day Oyenuga, the party's DJ. But the floor gave way under the weight of the dozens of students gathered at the party.

Carroll told the station she's called the cops on her upstairs neighbors' parties before.

She said: "It's just one of those, it's like it happened".

The complex is helping those affected.

"The Ridge is a private facility in the City of Denton, and any information regarding the incident would need to come from either the property owner or operator, and the City of Denton PIO", a University of North Texas spokesperson said, reported Fox 4.
