Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has withdrawn his appeal against his six-game suspension. He dropped it due to "a practical assessment of the current legal landscape" and his desire for closure in the matter. "This decision is in no way an admission of any wrongdoing, and Mr. Elliott is pleased that the legal fight mounted by he and his team resulted in disclosing many hidden truths regarding this matter as well [as] publicly exposing the NFL's mismanagement of its disciplinary process".
FRISCO, Texas - The next time Ezekiel Elliott carries the ball for the Dallas Cowboys will be December 24 against the Seattle Seahawks. In the meantime, he intends to release a "final personal statement" about Thompson's accusations and the suspension in the coming weeks.
The suspension came after the National Football League investigated his alleged use of force in the summer of 2016 against his girlfriend. Six games is the baseline for a first-time domestic violence offender.
Elliott served the first game of his ban this past Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons after the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied his request for an emergency injunction at a hearing last Thursday in NY.
It's also true that Elliott's quest for 1,000 depends on how his team plays during his absence. Elliott, who has always denied the allegations, appealed. Even if Elliott eventually prevailed in his appeal against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's sanctions, he'd be unable to get the games back. Prosecutors in OH didn't pursue the case.
Oil market could tip out of balance on rising non-Opec production
Scientists just this week said that emissions of the heat-trapping gas rose this year after three years of not growing. This latest move comes as investors expect figures to show United States oil production has risen.
Floor collapses during Texas students' rowdy party
Many guests captured the melee on their cellphones and several videos of the incident were later posted on social media. If we were in our living room, we wouldn't have made it out because by what we've seen, it's just completely gone".
Second-string England side impress in goalless draw against Germany
I don't think the wider public will be as aware of him, you would have to have followed him very closely, but we believe in him and the others we played.
Jones has referred to Elliott's suspension as an "overcorrection" for Goodell, who admittedly mishandled the suspension of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice back in 2014.
With that being the case, many of you are probably wondering when Elliott will make that return to the Cowboys this season.
He was on pace for another Pro Bowl caliber campaign, as he now ranks third in the league with 783 rushing yards while being tied for first with seven rushing touchdowns and second among skill-position players with nine total touchdowns in just eight games played.
Now sitting at 5-4 with a critical divisional match up against the Philadelphia Eagles on the horizon, the Cowboys must find answers which they did not have last Sunday.
