That snow will come to an end early Thursday morning then the rest of the day will be cloudy to partly sunny with just some scattered some more flurries.
Today (Wednesday): Cold and windy is the story today, despite mostly sunny skies through much of the day. By tomorrow morning most areas will pick up between 1 and 2 inches of fresh snow. Temperatures tomorrow will remain below average, with highs only expected to be in the low 20s. Because winds will be blowing from the east over Lake Michigan, the east-central parts of the state will be subject to lake enhancement and see more snow. Look for increasing clouds by late afternoon. A bit of a breeze makes wind chill values feel like the 20s.
But looking ahead to next week and temperatures could sink to lows of -17C due to a "Polar vortex".
