Residents of Los Angeles, Stefan Bogdanovich, and Dakota Speas have been represented by Wilshire Law Firm and both of them filed a lawsuit with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Apple's disclosure came after iPhone users on Reddit reported that replacing batteries on older phones appeared to improve their phones' speed. Apple should've also presented the user a choice whether they want to use a phone with a throtelled processor and not sugar coat a new update under the guise of new features.
Amy Bessette, an Apple spokeswoman, did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment on the suits, sent before regular business hours in Cupertino, California.
It's claimed that Apple's actions were nefarious and disingenuous, as iPhone users were misled as to the why their iPhones were actually slowing down over time.
"Last year we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down during these conditions", the company said this week. After Apple released its official statement where the tech giant detailed that it was slowing down iPhones in exchange for better battery life, it did not take long for a lawsuit to be aimed at the company.

The lack of concern for battery performance our study highlights would be quite different if older iPhones just died throughout the day. One of the main reasons people buy iPhones is that they don't slow down or lag with time like some Samsung devices.
