The package was found on Bel Air Road, near Mnuchin's home, in Los Angeles.

A report Saturday of a suspicious Christmas package outside the California home of U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin turned out to be a false alarm, police said.

The Secret Service was also involved due to the connection to Mnuchin.

The street was closed during the Bomb Squad's investigation until the package was found to be filled with horse manure.

The package also came with a Christmas card with derogatory remarks about Mnuchin, President Donald Trump and the $1.5 trillion GOP tax bill that was signed into law this week.

On NBC New's local LA affiliate, aerial footage showed police inspecting a box covered in wrapping paper. Most famously, he was pictured showing off money with his signature on them to his wife, Louise Linton. It said the gift-wrapped package was "from the American people".

The Secret Service picked up the box to further investigate.
