O'Brien is apparently preparing to make a demand that either he or Texans general manager Rick Smith must be fired because of philosophical differences between the two, according to a report from Alex Marvez of Sporting News. Smith has been in charge of the Texans for some 12 years and while local media and fans have called for his firing for years, he continues to survive and keep his job despite questionable decisions.
There has been much speculation about O'Brien's future in Houston, with the Texans struggling through a 4-11 season after winning back-to-back AFC South titles in 2015 and 2016.
Smith, who is close with McNair, has been Houston GM since 2006, a span in which the Texans have made the playoffs four times, though have not taken the next step. This was an extremely hard decision for me to make as I love this organization and every member of this team both on and off the field. "I would love to have Coach O'Brien with me", said Watson earlier this month. On Sunday morning, ESPN reported Sunday morning that O'Brien is likely to be back in Houston in 2018.

Crowds fill Atlanta's airport the morning after a crippling power outage
A sudden power outage at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport brought the facility to a grounding halt around 1 p.m. The news release also said the outage may have been caused by a fire in at Georgia Power underground electrical facility.
The problem in this is that O'Brien is only under contract for one more season while Smith was extended a year ago through the 2020 season. I have a boss, and he controls that.
The one that may not return in Houston is general manager Rick Smith, who signed Brock Osweiler without even a face-to-face meeting. He also would come with Bill Belichick's approval from his days on the Patriots staff. O'Brien is 31-32 in four seasons.
