Meltdown - which may affect desktop, laptops, and cloud computers - can be found on the vast majority of processors designed by Intel since 1995, except for its Itanium and Atom processors before 2013.

As the world absorbed the news that chips on practically every device made in the last decade are vulnerable to Spectre and Meltdown, the only tech giant staying quiet was Apple.

"Security researchers have recently uncovered security issues known by two names, Meltdown and Spectre".

The IT giant recommends all the users to download software only from trusted sources, adding that the company has already released patches aimed at protection from Meltdown and Spectre and will continue its efforts in the sphere.

Apple said, 'These issues apply to all modern processors and affect almost all computing devices and operating systems.

Apple's statement also said there are no known exploits now impacting customers.

'Apple has already released mitigations in iOS 11.2, macOS 10.13.2, and tvOS 11.2 to help defend against Meltdown.

The tech giant said it is working on software updates to fix a pair of vulnerabilities which affect Apple gadgets as well as "all modern processors and affect almost all computing devices and operating systems".

Apple admitted Friday that all iPhones, iPads and Mac computers worldwide are affected by the Spectre and Meltdown processor security flaws but said no customers so far had been affected.

As far as it matters for its, Intel said in an announcement on Thursday that it "has created and is quickly issuing refreshes for a wide range of Intel-based PC frameworks-including PCs and servers-that render those frameworks invulnerable from the two endeavors... detailed by Google Project Zero", whose specialists helped unobtrusively find the defects a year ago.

If you thought your MacBook or iPhone would be immune to the Meltdown and Spectre microprocessor flaws acknowledged earlier this week by Intel, you would be wrong. Fixes for Linux and Windows are already available. Google said its users of Android phones - more than 80 percent of the global market - were protected if they had the latest security updates. Users of other devices will have to wait for the updates to be pushed out by third-party manufacturers, including Samsung, Huawei and OnePlus.

Macs and iOS devices are vulnerable to Spectre attacks through code that can run in web browsers including Apple's own Safari.
