Last week, the United States administration under President Donald Trump had suspended all military assistance to Pakistan, amounting to $225 million, until it took decisive action against terrorist groups, including the Afghan Taliban and Haqqani network. With the gloves now off it must be noted that none of the monies earmarked for coalition support funding in the 2017 fiscal year has been paid to Pakistan - what you never had you do not miss. He said that Pakistan's interference in Afghanistan's affairs at this point in time would create a situation where the Afghan war would overflow into Pakistan's territories, while adding that such conditions would only suit United States interests in the region. At a background briefing in Washington on January 4, state department officials also stressed that the aid cut was reversible "if they undertake to take the measures that we've asked of them".

Major General Asif Ghafoor Bajwa has stated on Friday that Pakistan Army is powerful force without aid of the United States (US) as well. -Pakistani cooperation for winning the release of an American woman, her Canadian husband and their children who had been held by Haqqani militants for five years.

The message in US President Trump's tweet depicts either a failure or regret of the steps taken by his predecessors, especially by Barack Obama.

On the other hand, US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis said that they were continuing working relations with Pakistan, adding that aid would be restored to Pakistan if they made visible efforts regarding taking stern action against all terrorist outfits in its backyard.

The Ministry defended Islamabad's stance on terrorism, saying that "it has fought the war against terrorism largely from its own resources which has cost over $120 billion in 15 years".

However, aid suspension would not hinder Pakistan's efforts to counter terrorism and extremism.

Bianca Villanueva, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service , says temperatures will drop Saturday night and into Sunday. The coldest day of the year usually occurs on January 8, with average lows and highs ranging from 39 to 58 degrees.

It was clear that the U.S. state department had not even decided on the exact quantum of aid that would be cut before it went public.

On Thursday, the US announced it would halt an estimated $1 billion worth of aid, after President Donald Trump criticized Pakistan as providing a "safe haven" for terrorists while providing nothing but "lies and deceit". On the other hand, Islamabad had maintained that the U.S. had consistently failed to acknowledge Pakistan's role in neutralising the threat of Al-Qaeeda in the region and sacrificing thousands of lives in the war on terror. "Pakistan believes it has a very strong interest in maintaining ties to the likes of the Haqqani network and Afghan Taliban because they push back against India's influence in Afghanistan".

Nauert said details were still being worked out on the additional funds, and referred questions to the Defense Department.

The money that has been suspended at this time does not mean that it will be withheld forever, she said.

The "lies and deceit" seems more like "grapes are sour" as the money invested in a state did not bring up much of a fruitful result. "They have to take decisive steps", said Nauert. "Is he freezing the funds for legitimate reasons, or is he doing it because he didn't like how Pakistan officials replied to his initial tweet about them?"
