The gender pay gap in EasyJet is now 51.7%, but the budget airline says this is not because of unequal pay for women. Lundgren's starting annual salary was £740,000, which he will now reduce to match the £706,000 earned by McCall when she left the budget airline.
EasyJet stresses that Lundgren's benefits aside from pay already matched those received by McCall.

She was appointed dame for services to the aviation industry in 2016.
Earlier this month, EasyJet announced revenues jumped more than 14 percent in its first quarter, profiting in part from the collapse of rivals and massive flight cancelations at Ryanair, largely owing to a pilots shortage.
