Dalton High School in Dalton, Georgia, was put on lockdown and evacuated Wednesday after a popular social studies teacher, Jesse Randal Davidson, fired a handgun through an outside window. One student sustained an ankle injury from running, but no others were hurt.
You can see the boarded up window where Dalton police say Davidson fired a single shot out the window and then barricaded himself in the classroom. When the principal arrived to attempt to unlock the classroom door, a shot was sacked.
The incident began about 11:30 a.m. when Davidson refused to let students into his classroom, Frazier said.
"I didn't get the door open very far, but he slammed the door and hollered 'Go away, don't come in here.' He had some nonsensical noises that were made as well", Bartoo said.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Davidson had been at the school since 2004, and was perceived as the school's "best instructor" in 2012.
The principal then placed the school on lockdown, Frazier said.
School officials said there are no plans for Davidson to return.

Police in Georgia say a teacher apparently fired a gun inside a classroom and barricaded himself there for about 30 minutes before he was taken into custody.
Dade County Sheriff's Sgt. Chad Payne told the Times Free Press on Friday that officers later turned over the rifles to Davidson's wife.
This comes a few days after President Trump suggested arming teachers, to protect students against school shooters.
The US police apprehended the teacher soon after the incident.
The incident report said that when Davidson asked if they scared the woman, the friends claimed it was worse than that.
