India and Vietnam on Saturday inked three Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs), including on cooperation between the Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership, India (GCNEP) and the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM), after talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang.
Stating that defence and security is an important pillar of the strong bilateral ties, he said that the all defence services of the two nations enjoy close cooperation and it was decided in the talks to increase cooperation in defence production.
Regarding defense cooperation, the Prime Minister emphasized that both sides made a decision to collaborate through technology transfer.
In January this year, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reacted to the Vietnamese Ambassador's invitation to India for more joint exploration projects in areas it claims, by saying that they must not be used as an "excuse to infringe upon China's legitimate rights and interests in the South China Sea and impair regional peace and stability".
The Vietnamese President will also have an interaction with prominent Indian businessmen.
The two sides also resolved to harness the potential of trade, minimise barriers and facilitate exports to bring the two way trade to United States dollars 15 billion by 2020, which is now around USD 10 billion.
