"Black Panther" isn't expected to hold this record for long, however. Black Panther is now officially the highest-grossing Marvel Cinematic Universe film, passing The Avengers at the domestic box office.
However, when adjusted for inflation, Black Panther is the fourth-highest grossing superhero film in the United States, trailing The Avengers, The Dark Knight, and Spider-Man.
The Marvel epic surpassed "The Avengers", which grossed a massive $623.4 million in 2012, when it reached $630.9 million according to Sunday's (March 25th 2018) calculations. This was the film's first weekend not at No. 1, as it yielded to "Pacific Rim Uprising", which debuted to $28 million domestically and added $123 million on foreign shores. Movies also left in the wake of Black Panther include Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, Deadpool, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Logan.
The numbers are insane, but get even crazier when you look at the global box office. Variety also noted it has passed the Rian Johnson flick by $12 million, but that number will likely grow within the next few weeks.

Globally, "Black Panther" sits at $1.237 billion, trailing only Marvel's two "Avengers" films among superhero films, without adjusting for inflation.
