Google Home and Home Mini might finally launch in India this month

Word from India this week is that the next big hardware release from Google will be in a Pixel, but a Pixel that's far cheaper than what's been released in the past.

Now it is uncertain whether the Alphabet-owned firm particularly utilizes the two devices for Indian consumers like Amazon worked when it started some of its Echo-branded providing to India last fall. So, Google Home speakers have a definite advantage over Echo with Hindi language support in India. The company also has access to the search data and might have found that Indians are interested in having a speaker based smart assistant at their home. That's according to Economic Times, which states that the phone will be making its debut around July or August.

If you have noticed, the company has increased marketing efforts around the Pixel smartphones, but that hasn't been as effective as one would have expected. So it makes sense for Google to try and regain some foothold with an appropriately priced, mid-range Pixel phone. The Home Mini, which is donut-size speaker, sells for $49, which means in India it may cost around Rs 3,500.

It's unclear whether Google plans to bring its cheaper Pixels worldwide, or if it'll be limited to India. Amazon is in the first position with the Alexa-powered Echo range of smart speakers, followed by Google with the Google Assistant-powered Home speakers. These speakers can be controlled through voice commands.

"We file patent applications on a variety of ideas that our employees come up with", Google also said in a statement.

The Google Home comes with a speaker featuring a 2-inch driver and dual 2-inch passive radiators on each side.

Like Amazon, Google insisted that their Google Home devices did not invade user privacy, and that "Prospective product announcements should not necessarily be inferred from our patent applications".
