Trump to Russia: Get ready for strike on Syria

12 April, 2018

U.S. President Donald Trump earlier on Wednesday warned Russian Federation of imminent military action in Syria and he lambasted Moscow for standing by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

President Donald Trump warned Russian Federation on Wednesday that it should "get ready" for a missile strike on Syria, vowing to thwart any missile defenses.

Russia, in turn, vetoed the US-backed motion, which would have re-established an global Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) to probe chemical strikes in Syria and to identify culprits.

Trump did not detail what a strike on Syria would look like, or whether these would be USA missiles.

He also referred to Syria's president Bashar al-Assad as a "gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!"

"No U.S. military action short of all-out regime change is going to deter the Assad government from committing future atrocities", Mr. Glaser said.

The president is getting closer to a decision on how the USA will respond to the apparent chemical weapons attack against civilians in Syria.

US President Donald Trump has promised to make a decision on the actions against Syria in response to the alleged use of chemical weapons in the country by Wednesday.

In the past, Trump has condemned others for forecasting military plans, repeatedly blistering President Barack Obama during the 2016 campaign.

Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said earlier this week that the US won't rule out airstrikes on Syria after the chemical attack.

It's unclear how the pullout can be executed without risking losing territory back to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (ISIS) or giving Assad allies, Russia, and Iran carte blanche on operating there.

Now Trump has declared an imminent retaliation for the attack, saying also that Russian Federation better not respond by backing their ally.
