"Yesterday there was a meeting between the sub-commissioner Alessandro Costacurta, Azzurri team manager [Lele] Oriali and Roberto Mancini, who gave his availability to resolve his relationship with Zenit and to be Coach of the national team", Fabbricini told ANSA.

Roberto Mancini has called for patience in rebuilding the Italy national team following the heartbreak of missing out on the 2018 World Cup.

Mancini, 53, has always been reported as in the running for the Azzurri job, but Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and Carlo Ancelotti were also on the shortlist, according to La Stampa (h/t Football Italia).
