Romero also failed to meet the 185-pound requirement in February for an interim middleweight title fight against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221.

The big story thus far this week was the fact that Romero missed weight on Friday (June 8, 2018) for his rematch against UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in the main event of the upcoming UFC 225 pay-per-view event.

Romero was over the 185 pound (83.9kg) limit at the first weigh-in by a pound and came within 90 grams of making the weight a second time.

The two fighters were introduced and faced off at the ceremonial weigh-ins later Friday.

Despite missing weight, Romero was able to score a knockout win over Rockhold.

This is the second consecutive fight in which Romero has missed weight.

Now recovered from a staph infection and a nasty case of chickenpox, Whittaker is ready to get back in the Octagon with the "Soldier of God".

Whittaker will handle Romero, dealing him a second loss in the series and allowing him to move on to the next challenge. At time of this writing, no official decision has been made as to whether the fight will still take place. "I'm refueling and getting ready for a fight".
