"This entire situation is devastating for Heather and for her family", the source tells ET of Locklear's recent troubles with the law.
"Her family was scared for her", the source said. "Before taking her in, they wanted to get her medically cleared, due to the level of her intoxication and behavior". She has pleaded not guilty in that case, which remains pending. Responding deputies said she was heavily intoxicated and arguing with friends and family.
Locklear was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold last week after allegedly choking her mom and attacking her dad.
