Essentially serving as the game's practice arena, "Playground" would be a limited-time sandbox-style mode that allows players to take a break from the fast-paced battle-royale formula by roaming through the island with up to three of their friends, without any opponents to shoot at or hide from.
The Playground mode update adds: "Once we have confirmed that our testing was successful we will begin gradually rolling servers out to all regions and platforms until it's available to all players".

Switzerland hold Brazil to 1-1 draw
The match was pretty much all Brazil from the beginning, but outside of its lone goal, the ball just didn't want to go in. But Switzerland successfully resisted late Brazilian pressure to earn a point in their opening Group E fixture.
MrPopoTFS on Reddit (a developer at the game) has clarified when we can see an update for Playground mode hit.
The 50v50 mode was meant to be enabled this morning to take the place of the Final Fight LTM, which "isn't quite in a state where we want it to be" just yet.
The preview for the article said: "Hey there, We're continuing testing on our matchmaking improvements and are still aiming to open the Playground LTM later today. More details available tomorrow". Epic is now gearing up for another event, but you might only have one opportunity to see it live. That's an update on the status of the mode, not an actual update to the game.
"We've been working on major matchmaking improvements over the last 24 hours, and we've also isolated Playground matchmaking to its own cluster so if it gets backed up, the worst that happens is longer Playground matchmaking times while the regular modes are unaffected". But now we know that whatever is going to happen is going to happen live.
