The Sixers have been linked to Butler mostly in passing, as a team that was checking in on his availability, but hadn't really gotten more serious than that.

Teams pursuing Butler remain skeptical of Thibodeau's desire to execute a trade, believing that he's making counterproposals that Thibodeau knows teams will never accept.

They could look to make a three-team trade in order to make the deal happen.

With the Cleveland Cavaliers still interested in acquiring the services of Minnesota Timberwolves four-time All-Star and two-way playmaker Jimmy Butler, King James Gospel has come up with five trades that will bring Jimmy Buckets back to the East.

Minnesota is reportedly in search of "quality" veterans, top prospects, future assets and cap relief in any swap, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe. He was present only for medical evaluations.

As Marc Stein of the New York Times reported today, the Heat have become Butler's ideal destination. Thibodeau said Butler would be away from the team for at least a week because he's still rehabbing from offseason surgery on his right hand. Wojnarowski has also mentioned the Phoenix Suns as a team that could force its way into discussions; they have reportedly had interest in Tyus Jones in the past, so they could be a team to watch.

With there being no shortage of suitors for Butler's services and the price the Wolves paid for Butler, there's little doubt that they'll be looking to recoup much of what they lost for just one season with him on the team.

He is entering the fourth season of a five-year, $92.3 million contract he signed with Chicago in 2015, but he can enter the free agent market next summer by opting out of the final year.
