Judge Randolph Moss reminded Papadopoulos that he had already waived his right to an appeal and that two other judges had upheld the legality of the Mueller appointment.

Trump has consistently called the Mueller probe a "witch hunt" and strongly denies any collusion with Russian Federation in the 2016 presidential election. "Wait until it comes out how horribly & viciously they are treating people, ruining lives for them refusing to lie. Mueller is a conflicted prosecutor gone rogue", the president wrote in his first tweet of the morning. In Manafort's plea deal, the government agreed to advocate for a lower sentence if they thought he provided "substantial assistance in the form of truthful information".

Renato Mariotti, a former federal prosecutor in Chicago, pointed out the "highly unusual" nature of such a claim. Manafort's legal team will have to convince Judge Berman Jackson that Manafort offered an honest effort to comply with Mueller's team just to get a sentence within the original deal's parameters, which is now their best-case scenario.

A jury found Manafort guilty of eight of 18 counts of tax and bank fraud in a federal trial in NY on August 21. Let these awful people go back to the Clinton Foundation and "Justice" Department!

Both sides ask the judge to now move Manafort's case toward sentencing.

The snow showers could linger into Wednesday morning, then we expect a warmer and drier day on Thursday with highs around 40°. Rain chances will remain near zero, but portions of western Alabama could see a few showers later in the day on Wednesday .

"After signing the plea agreement, Manafort committed federal crimes by lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Counsel's Office on a variety of subject matters, which constitute breaches of the agreement", prosecutors wrote.

He faced a second trial over charges of conspiracy against the U.S.by acting as the unregistered agent of a foreign government, namely the Kremlin-allied regime of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. Except for one aspect of their bank fraud case, in which Manafort appeared to dangle access to the Trump campaign in exchange for a bank loan, the cases did not publicly describe Manafort's work as campaign chairman.

Instead, the document laid bare the differences between two sides who have met repeatedly since Manafort entered his guilty plea on September 17 before U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson.

The only reasonable explanation as to why Manafort would decide not to cooperate with Mueller, thus ensuring that his criminal sentence is much longer in length - perhaps one that amounts to a life sentence, given that Manafort is 69-years-old - is that he is now relying on a presidential pardon.

Other high-profile members of Trump's campaign team are also due to be sentenced in December after providing information to federal prosecutors.
