Cohen, who had been set to testify before the House Oversight Committee on February 7 to discuss his work for Trump, will delay the appearance indefinitely, his attorney, Lanny Davis, said in a statement Wednesday.
"This morning the Senate Intelligence Committee served Michael Cohen with a subpoena", Davis said in a statement.
"Mr. Cohen wishes to thank Chairman Cummings for allowing him to appear before the House Oversight Committee and looks forward to testifying at the appropriate time".
Davis also said Cohen has received threats against his family.
Giuliani said Monday in a three-sentence statement that his comments "did not represent the actual timing or circumstances of any discussions".
"No, I would say he's been threatened by the truth".
Despite a report Tuesday night, the legal team member said Trump wasn't "apoplectic" about Giuliani's statement and ensuing cleanup.
Richard Blumenthal said that Trump's comments about his former lawyer Michael Cohen were indictable. He blamed threats from Trump and the president's attorney-spokesman, Rudy Giuliani, and cited his own ongoing cooperation in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.
In an interview Thursday, Davis said the House should take an immediate vote on censuring Trump "as a step before an impeachment investigation", and he pushed for a criminal investigation of Giuliani involving allegations of obstruction, witness intimidation and witness tampering.
Trump and Giuliani have made repeated comments targeting Cohen's father-in-law Fima Shusterman, a businessman in the taxi cab industries in NY and Chicago.

In a Fox News interview Trump said Cohen "should give information maybe on his father-in-law, because that's the one that people want to look at", and has tweeted other similar remarks.
Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, has pleaded guilty to lying to Congress in 2017 by saying he had abandoned the Trump Tower project in January 2016 even though prosecutors say he actually pursued it into June.
"He's always been threatened by the truth and he doesn't want to do that, probably for me or other of his clients", Trump said during an unrelated event on health care costs.
Giuliani, the president's current lawyer, has highlighted problems with Cohen's credibility.

Issuing a subpoena to force Cohen's testimony "now is the necessary alternative", Representative Gerry Connolly, a senior Democrat on the Oversight panel, said.
When asked if Cohen would comply with a subpoena, Davis told ABC News "We will comply and hope to agree upon reasonable terms, ground rules and a date".
That committee generally has held its Russia-related hearings in private.
