Boeing should seek to turn around the fortunes of its 737 Max jet by rebranding the model, according to USA president Donald Trump. And Southwest Airlines, the other US airline that has 737 Max 8 jets, also has canceled flights involving the aircraft through August.
American, which owns 24 of the planes, said last week that it would cancel flights through early June due to Boeing 737 Max 8 jets being grounded after two of the aircraft from Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines crashed, killing 189 people and 157 people respectively.
Booming demand along with the grounding of Boeing's 737 Max aircraft is biting into Northern Hemisphere spring and summer schedules.
Mr. Trump added, "No product has suffered like this one". According to the publication, he surrendered ownership of Trump Shuttle to creditors in 1990 after he wasn't making enough money. "But again, what the hell do I know?", he added.
Brand Finance had previously estimated the damage to the value of Boeing's reputation at $7.5 billion immediately after the March 10 crash of an Ethiopian Airlines jetliner, the second fatal accident involving the 737 MAX in five months.

Airlines are being forced to ground their planes longer than expected after Boeing and the FAA said the company needs more time to complete changes to a flight-control system suspected of playing a role in the crashes. Investigators have concluded that an automatic anti-stalling feature known as the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System ― which can point the plane's nose automatically downward in certain rare but risky situations ― played a roll in both crashes.
Almost 400 B737 Max aircraft have been delivered to carriers worldwide, with Southwest now the largest operator with 31 aircraft in its fleet.
The Federal Aviation Administration has been meeting major airlines and convened a joint review with aviation regulators from other countries, while federal prosecutors, the U.S. Department of Transportation inspector general's office and a blue-ribbon panel are reviewing the plane's certification.
Monday is not the first time Trump has offered his commentary on the 737 MAX planes. "We didn't have to make this decision today", Trump said during the announcement March 13.
