With no hardware news for the Switch coming out of E3 2019, everyone will have to keep their eyes peeled for any potential announcements coming from Nintendo later on in the year.
Although Nintendo has yet to acknowledge any future hardware plans for the Switch, reports have suggested that the cheaper model would have a smaller display and might not come with a dock or even support the dock.
On the hardware front, annual Switch sales totaled 16.95 million units. Yoshi's Crafted World is also selling "faster than previous games in the series", and attracting a large female audience. Annual sales rose 14% to 1.2 trillion yen ($10.7 billion). Analysts expected 350 billion yen of operating profit, but Nintendo only achieved 260 billion yen.
Nintendo is reportedly launching two new Switch models later this year, with the budget-friendly model apparently dropping at the end of June.

The industry is facing a shake-up with established console gaming companies like Nintendo and Sony Corp exposed to competition from new entrants like Alphabet Inc's Google offering browser-based games streaming services. This would be the opposite of the strategy the company used with the Wii U, which launched in 2012, a year before the PS4 and Xbox One. Combined Switch software unit sales for the 2018 fiscal year reached 118.55 million units, up 86.7% from last year.
