UCLA knows it will have its hands full with McCaffrey

Christian McCaffrey doesn't get many stages during the regular season like the one. After a disastrous second week, a 5-2-2 record was manufactured in Week 3 and my season mark now sits at.500 just in time for the first week of Pac-12 play.

Last season, McCaffrey torched UCLA for 243 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on 25 carries. They have shown plenty of resiliency as well, as the Bruins are 4-0 so far this season in matches in which they have dropped the first set.

UCLA pass offense vs. Stanford pass defense: Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen continues to be hard on himself after both victory and defeat. He's averaging 235 all-purpose yards per game heading into the Bruins' showdown against No. 7 Stanford on Saturday evening at the Rose Bowl.

"He can do so many things so well - carry the ball out of the backfield, whether it's inside or outside, catching the ball out of the backfield", Mora said.

Can the Bruins make big plays?

.

As I previously mentioned the last matchup between the Cardinal and the Bruins was the game that Christian McCaffrey solidified his name as a Heisman candidate. No opponent would be better to beat than the powerhouse Cardinal (2-0, 1-0 Pac-12), who have their longest winning streak in a rivalry series that has happened every year since the 1920s, except during World War II. "You can't trust the quarterback's eyes", Shaw said. He's been one of the most unsafe offensive weapons in college football since last year and is considered one of the frontrunners for the Heisman Trophy this year.

It has been a good opportunity for me, I am happy, I am going to keep working hard to help the team get where they want. For the toughest decision I made was over Joe Hart. "I think I will fight for a place as a winger in the team", he said.

USC under coach Clay Helton has won just one game since he was hired permanently as coach and the team has looked inept this year. You know who isn't going to win.USC. He can throw late and deep.

In beating USC last week, the Cardinal ran the ball 47 times for 295 yards, with just 15 pass attempts.

CHANGING THE GAME: UCLA moved to a pro-style offense under new coordinator Kennedy Polamalu during the past offseason, emphasizing the running game and overall tough-nosed football.

Coach Jim Mora has done a great job at UCLA, but he is also winless versus Stanford.

Quarterback Ryan Burns connected with McCaffrey on a scoring wheel route, but otherwise, Stanford got by with limited passing offense. It could be a preview for the Pac-12 Championship Game as Stanford and UCLA were voted to win their respective divisions in the Pac-12 media poll. The UNDER is 6-1 in Stanford's last seven road games at UCLA. The bottom line is that he hasn't shown the ability to rise to the occasion when the pressure's on against good opponents, and there's been no indication that this meeting will be any different, especially against a Stanford secondary that looks to have improved dramatically since these two teams met at Stanford Stadium last season. Mora said the junior will be a main part of the team's preparation this week, but can't monopolize the entire week's game plan as the Bruins are trying to secure their first win against Stanford in eight tries.

Southern California's sluggish loss to Stanford a week ago prompted Trojans coach Clay Helton to switch quarterbacks.
