Liverpool have chosen not to include defender Joel Matip for Wednesday's FA Cup third round replay at Plymouth as the row over his eligibility continues.
Matip reportedly refused to play for Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations after being listed on the Indomitable Lions' preliminary roster despite not wanting to play for his country.
Matip played for his old Bundesliga club, Schalke, on November 21, 2015, four days after Cameroon's World Cup qualifier with Nigeria and there was no action taken against his club, or any objection made to Federation Internationale de Football Association by Cameroon. Unless there's an agreement (injury, worldwide retirement, etc.) between club and country to keep that player at their club.
Klopp resents the suggestion the club or Matip himself have wilfully gone against Cameroon's wishes.
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge could have ensured clear water was put between the two sides in Ocean City but he went for goal from a tight angle when he should have tried to pick out Ben Woodburn.

Aaron & Jordan Rodgers' Dad Speaks Out About Family Drama & 'The Bachelorette'
Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a tremendous win over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday, further cementing his living legend status.
"I accept rules in life, but I think they are based on human senses. I said before the last game we had a lot of good reasons to line up like we did and it will be same case for Wednesday, we will have good reasons for the line-up", he explained. "It is pretty hard". In this moment he is not in the squad, but we have no 100 per cent guarantee that he could play for us. Since then, Liverpool have racked up a 1-0 loss to Southampton and a 1-1 draw with Man United, leaving them without a win in four games.
When asked how Matip had responded, Klopp revealed that the 25-year-old was deeply unhappy with the farce surrounding his availability.
Allan Nyom (WBA), Andre Onana (Ajax Amsterdam), Guy N'dy Assembe (Nancy), Maxime Poundje (Girondins Bordeaux), Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa (Olympique Marseille) and Ibrahim Amadou (Lille) are the remaining six players who pulled out of the Cameroon squad.
He told the club's official website: "It's not been an easy week for us". Schalke have a similar problem and so do West Brom, maybe Ajax too.
