Before the dismissal, Stielike was the longest-serving head coach of the Korean national football team, holding the post for 2 years and nine months, but as the team failed to perform in the final qualification matches for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the KFA chose to end Stielike's tenure.

The Korea Football Association (KFA) said it chose to part ways with Stielike following a technical committee meeting at the National Football Center in Paju here.

It was widely expected that Stielike would be sacked after Tuesday's loss to Qatar, which left South Korea clinging to the second automatic qualifying spot in Group A with two games to go.

Only the top two in each of Groups A and B qualify automatically for Russian Federation, with the third-placed teams going into play-offs.

After taking up the job in September 2014, Stielike had showed impressive leadership, achieving a runner-up finish at the AFC Asian Cup in Australia in 2015.

Lee Yong-Soo, chairman of the Korean Football Association, also resigned in a shake-up ahead of South Korea's final two qualifying games.

That said, because KFA was the one to end the contract, they are responsible for paying the remainder of Stielike's salary. "Everything will be processed accordingly to what's written on his contract". It was Lee who hired Stielike after the 2014 FIFA World Cup. "Stielike said that he respects any decision reached by the technical committee".

Apple said it has also updated the processors in its iMac and MacBook Pro lineup to Intel's most recent "Kaby Lake" processors. And then there's a new generation of smart speakers like Amazon Echo and Google Home , but those don't really sound good.

The KFA have not decided yet who will take over as coach for the final two qualifiers.

However defeats in the past three away games have left South Korea just one point ahead of Uzbekistan in the final automatic qualifying spot for Russian Federation from Group A with two matches remaining.

"I believe we can produce better results with new people", he said.

Lee said the next leader should possess two ingredients: risk management skills and the ability to communicate closely with the players.
