Jury deadlocked in Bill Cosby sex assault trial, ordered to continue deliberations

The jury in Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial went home for the night Thursday without issuing a verdict and will return Friday morning for the fifth day of deliberations.

Victoria Valentino, who has alleged Cosby of sexually assaulting her in 1970 and has been present throughout the trial, said it was "maddening" that jurors could hear Constand's testimony and still be stuck.

"I'm feeling so frustrated".

When the trial started in June 5, the jury of seven men and five women were bused in from Allegheny County near Pittsburgh and have since been sequestered in a hotel. (Cosby has denied Bernard's claim, too.) In a video clip shared by McCrystal, a visibly enraged Bernard told reporters, "I experienced firsthand when [Cosby] drugged me, when he raped me, when he threatened me to silence".

At a news conference on Thursday, Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt urged O'Neill to end the case and send the jurors home.

Jurors were also keenly focused on what Cosby said about the pills he gave to Constand before their encounter, asking for the second time in deliberations to revisit a portion of the deposition in which the comedian talked about giving Constand "three friends for you to make you relax". The evidence the jury has asked to review during deliberations seems to point to a split among jurors, and what could conceivably signal a heated debate taking place behind closed doors.

They talked with one another for 30 hours over three days.

Cosby's lawyers sought to discredit her by pointing to discrepancies between her testimony and statements to law enforcement in 2005, when she first reported the incident a year after it allegedly occurred.

Supreme Court strikes down law blocking disparaging trademarks
In his opinion for the court, Justice Samuel Alito rejected arguments that trademarks are government speech, not private speech. That appears to mean that the Redskins also will be able to continue using their name, even though it offends people as well.

After trying to shout down the Cosby accusers they appeared to be gaining the upper hand when a sexual abuse supporters group drowned them out.

Johnson testified that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1996, while Cosby acknowledged in depositions that he gave young women sedatives in the 1970s. It will be important to continue to stay tuned in the next few days as more relevant news about this criminal trial is sure to come about, and a verdict could be reached any moment.

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Constand has done.

But when jurors asked to stop for the day Wednesday night, O'Neill was effusive with praise - encouraging their diligence as they weigh charges that could put Cosby in prison for the rest of his life.

Each jury deadlock announcement is met with a defense motion for a mistrial.

Mr Wyatt said: "He never got a fair trial".

In that case, Cosby would not be found guilty, nor would he be acquitted.

According to Mason, Constand said she had gone to Cosby's house after dinner in mid-January 2004.
