The Chinese defence ministry on Monday (24 July) issued a new warning to neighbour India amid ongoing border standoff that began about two months ago over a disputed area near the China-Bhutan border.
"Shaking a mountain is easy but shaking the PLA is hard", ministry spokesman Wu Qian told a briefing, adding that its ability to defend China's territory and sovereignty had "constantly strengthened".
Indian troops crossed the China-India boundary into Chinese territory in mid-June to obstruct road construction in China's Donglang region.
New Delhi also says the road, if built, will have serious security implications for India. However, a great deal will depend on whether India has taken a decision to withdraw its troops from Doklam, as this is a precondition that Beijing has been stressing on for any "meaningful" dialogue or discussions on this issue.
"If China unilaterally changes the status quo of the tri-junction, it becomes a matter of security concern for India", Swaraj said in parliament last week.
There is a cold war-like situation between India and China and media in both countries are flexing their muscles, Gywali said in the House.

The standoff between troops of India and China at Doklam area started after Bhutan, which has close diplomatic and military ties with India, protested to Beijing about the PLA troops building a road in the strategic location close to chicken neck tri-junction.
The standoff has been fueled in part by a muscular and increasingly vociferous nationalism among both the Chinese and Indian publics against the background of competition for dominance between the two for influence in Asia.
India and China have both said they have foreign support for their positions on the conflict. "The PLA has demonstrated unshakable determination to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity".
Despite new tough talk today about the border confrontation at Sikkim, China has indicated that National Security Adviser Ajit Doval is likely to meet one-on-one with his counterpart when he travels to Beijing later this week for a session of top security officials of BRICS.
"The crossing of the mutually recognized worldwide border by India is a serious violation of China's territory and runs against global law", he said.
"The trespass of India border troops took place at the defined Sikkim section of the China-India boundary".
