However, recent reports suggest that Apple's newest high-end iPhone will retire the home button, not merely replacing the physical home button with a digital version, but phasing out the very idea of a home button in favour of new gesture controls. It's a pressure-sensitive sensor with a "taptic engine" that simulates the feeling of a pushed button.

Apple's iPhone 8 unveiling could be just a couple of weeks away, and now Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has shared all the details he's hearing about the next handset.

Given that the unveiling of Apple's iPhone 8 has already been delayed because of the rumored difficulties of the developers in integrating the fingerprint scanner under the display, there is a lot of expectations for the upcoming smartphone.

The phone will use facial-recognition technology to make sure the user is the owner of the phone, and will require a swipe up with a thumb to unlock the screen, according to Bloomberg.

The facial recognition feature will also rely on infrared tech to scan faces in the dark, ideal for tweeting in bed.

A metal band (a la the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S) with antennas reportedly runs around the edge of the iPhone 8, and the phone's bezels will be uniform around the entire screen.

However, there is a slight problem there; the headquarters campus isn't finished yet, it's implied the part the firm wants to use for the launch might be ready in time, but also may not, it's up in the air. That's a potentially huge privacy issue should hackers take advantage. Inductive charging uses an electromagnetic field to transfer energy between two objects. However, the screen won't be prominently curved like Samsung phones, such as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.

Most of us slow down as we age. As noted, last year's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were announced on September 7, with preorders following on September 9.

Susquehanna Financial Group analyst Mehdi Hosseini said his checks with Apple's supply chain partners in South Korea and Taiwan indicate that Apple is increasing its planned production of the iPhone 8 during the first quarter of 2018. The new display's OLED technology will showcase darker blacks and more vibrant colours compared to the current iPhone's backlit Retina LCD.

Its market capitalisation now stands at about US$841bn and some analysts expect it will reach US$1trn following the release of the iPhone 8. And when it comes to a new iPhone, the world just can not wait to get their hands on the latest iOS mobile phones.
