The nominations for the 2018 Academy Awards were released today, and James Franco, 39, was not on the list.

Before the allegations surfaced, awards pundits predicted Franco would nab a nomination for his role in The Disaster Artist.

"The Big Sick": While Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon earned a nomination for Best Original Screenplay, their film and supporting actress Holly Hunter were snubbed of nods. A source close to Franco, who was wearing a Time's Up pin during his acceptance speech, disputes that number, adding that the accusations against the actor are "false".

Despite a Golden Globe win, a Critics Choice win and a Screen Actors Guild nomination, James Franco didn't get any love from the Oscars for his transformative performance in The Disaster Artist.

Another woman, Violet Paley, claimed that Franco sexually harassed her.

While many have spoken out against Franco on the wake of the allegations against him, he has not been without his defenders.

The allegations surrounding celebrities will lead to more scrutiny of those nominated for awards, Alexandra Kamody, the director of The Athena Cinema, said. "I think it would have been on people's minds as they were ticking off their ballot boxes and perhaps, female voters especially might have felt it was inappropriate to reward him [Franco] this year", he told Reuters.

"I'm shaking, yeah", Kaplan replied, adding, "Being an actor and a filmmaker and working in the industry has been my dream since I was maybe five or six, and I knew that by coming forward I was risking my career".

Then again, if they put me in charge - and once again, that didn't happen this year - I would cease the underwhelming tradition of the early-morning announcements and create a TV special, a la what the sports networks do with the Heisman Trophy and the National Football League draft et al. "But of course now is a time for listening and that's what we're all trying to do".

While Franco was a no-show at the 2018 SAG Awards red carpet, his brother Dave along with wife Alison Brie walked the carpet. "I obviously support my family and not everything reported has been fully accurate".

The 26-year-old actress did claim, however, that the Golden Globe victor abused his influence when teaching aspiring actresses the craft of the sex scene.
