There have been several cases of mass killings in the state due to clashes between herdsmen and local communities.
In a statement made available to Naija News by Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, Director Army Public Relations, he stated the arrest occurred after the troops responded to distress calls from residents of the area.
The Plateau state government has declared a dusk to dawn curfew in Bassa Local Government Area of the state following a battle between suspected Fulani herdsmen and security operatives at Dung Kasa, Rafiki and Dutse Kura communities in the local government.
Meantime, the Governor in a broadcast to the citizenry, said, "Let me assure our citizens that some arrests have already been made and the suspects will be arraigned before the relevant authorities in no distant future".
"As troops moved in to settle the dispute, the herdsmen opened fire on them".
"7 suspects were arrested in connection with the clashes".
The release, signed by the secretary to the Plateau state government, Rufu Bature, said the decision was to curtail further attacks.
