Often found locked in a volatile confrontation at the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir, the Indian and Pakistan troop will take part in an exercise together as part of a multi-nation counter-terror war game under the aegis of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Russian Federation.

They said the military drill will be held in the Ural mountains of Russian Federation and nearly all SCO member countries will be part of it. The multi-nation military exercise will held under the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

The SCO was formed in the year 2001 in Shanghai by the Presidents of Russia, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which had Russia voting for India while China backed Pakistan. While India's membership had the backing of Russia, China pushed for the entry of Pakistan. Earlier, they were included as observers in 2005.
