The England squad have been dubbed heroes by the media on the morning after they crashed out of the World Cup semi-final, losing 2-1 to Croatia in extra time. The scenes in Croatia's capital of Zagreb were astounding.

Meanwhile, Croatia, who dashed England's hopes of a World Cup final spot, are the "dark horse", the research found, while "dominate" and "impress" were also frequently used in connection with the team. Prior to 2018, Croatia's best finish in the tournament was third in 1998, when Golden Boot victor Davor Šuker led Croatia past The Netherlands in the third-place match.

Despite what is a devastating loss for Gareth Southgate and his team, not to mention supporters, many front pages focussed on how far England made it through the tournament and the sense of national pride they instilled in the public.

"Knockout football is about fine margins, we had spells in the game against a side with real quality and you've got to make them count", said Southgate on ITV after the game.

Hyde Park was a mess as everyone went home.

"We had hoped [for this] and we believed in our team, but the feeling when we finally entered the finals can not be compared to anything", said Croatia fan Ivan Kecerin.

Kevin Cramer. "Mike Lee, he's an outstanding talent", Trump said. "I love that issue if they're going to actually do that". In the wise words of Maya Angelou, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time".

Croatia had twice needed penalties to get to this stage, first in the round of 16, where they beat Denmark, then in the quarterfinals, where they beat hosts Russian Federation, two shootouts that made goalkeeper Danijel Subašić a hero.

"They want to be involved in scoring the goals and getting on the end of things".

England scored the opening goal last night against Croatia inside five minutes courtesy of a stunning free kick from Kieran Trippier.

Katich said the World Cup had brought an already-close Croatian community even closer together.

England soccer fans are left wondering what could have been at an empty Hyde Park in London. England are out of the World Cup and Roy Keane is reminding everyone when they should be happy.

The game ended with England down to 10 players and out of substitutes.
