Comey testified for more than six hours behind closed doors on Friday before the House Judiciary and Oversight committees under an agreement that led to the release of the transcript Saturday.

Comey on Friday met with members of the House Judiciary Committee and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about the Russian Federation probe.

"You'd nearly have to fire everyone in the FBI and the Justice Department to derail the relevant investigations", Comey replied when asked by Democrat lawmakers whether Mueller's ouster would halt the Russian Federation probe and other special counsel-related investigations.

Florida Rep. Ted Deutsch said the Republican majority "wishes to only ask questions still about Hillary Clinton's emails, all to distract from the big news today, which is what's happening in court". So, Democrats asked Comey - are you friends with Mueller?

Under the deal struck with the judiciary committee, Comey was to be free to speak about Friday's questioning and a transcript was to be released soon afterward.

"Mr. Comey is the right witness, but here for the wrong questions", Krishnamoorthi said outside the hearing room, according to USA Today.

"There are not many things I would bet my life on", Comey told the two dozen lawmakers from two congressional panels, in private. His Friday testimony was so untruthful!,' he tweeted.

Walmart, Pfizer, AT&T, Boston Scientific, Union Pacific, and Leidos also asked for Hyde-Smith to return campaign contributions. Hyde-Smith declined to answer any of the questions, instead slipping into her vehicle and proceeding to a private event.

"I was briefed sometime at the end of July that the FBI had opened counterintelligence investigations of four individuals to see if there was a connection between those - any of those four and the Russian effort, and those four Americans did not include the candidate", Comey said in his testimony. But Comey also used the occasion to take aim at Trump's public barbs at the criminal justice system, saying "we have become numb to lying and attacks on the rule of law by the president", and Trump's suggestion that it should be a crime for subjects to "flip" and cooperate with investigators. That termination led to Robert Mueller's appointment.

Comey did not identify the four, and declined to answer other questions that went into matters under investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and other federal prosecutors. 'I think I had a meal once alone with him in a restaurant.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) a member of the committee, said he had 14 pages of questions for Comey. He has praised former Justice Department official Sally Yates for defying an executive order and reportedly attended then-Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's election night party, leading conservative critics to allege a bias against President Trump. I like him. I am not a - I'm an associate of his who admires him greatly.

Representative Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican who's to become the Oversight Committee's ranking Republican in January, complained about Comey's responses - including 166 instances of "I don't know" - in a tweet. "So it's hard to reconcile that with his being on Team Clinton", Comey added.

Eventually Comey agreed to a closed-door hearing on the condition that a transcript be made public afterward.

"Don't do it in a dark corner and don't do it in a way where all you do is leak information", said Comey's attorney, David Kelley.

CNN reported this week on the circumstances that prompted McCabe to open an obstruction investigation in the wake of Comey's firing even before Mueller was appointed less than two weeks later.
