"I'm pleased to see it because I think on this show last season, I think Liverpool played away at Leicester and won 3-2 early in the season, and I come out and said I'm sick of Liverpool being everybody's second team".

The England worldwide said he was not surprised by the behaviour of the fans but did not elaborate on what was said.

"If there is evidence of ticket-holders taking part in any racist behavior, the club will issue severe sanctions, including bans".

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hailed Raheem Sterling as an "incredible person" after the English attacker hit out at local media coverage that he said helps fuel racism.

Manchester City and England forward Sterling was taunted by Chelsea fans during Saturday's Premier League game at Stamford Bridge.

He explained it was a tribute to his father, who was shot dead in his birthplace of Jamaica when Sterling was just two years old.

Having played alongside Sterling with England, Chalobah knows the character of the former Liverpool man well.

However, despite identifying the progress made by such steps and the fact fans from BAME communities making up 17 per cent of Premier League attendees - up from 12 per cent 10 years ago - he acknowledged there remains much to be done.

It's a shame and disgraceful, if that is the case, if Raheem did suffer abuse at Stamford Bridge.

"We take allegations of discrimination extremely seriously and will work with the clubs and the relevant authorities to ensure this matter is dealt with appropriately", the FA said.

"Manchester City and Raheem are committed to working with all relevant parties and organisations to support the objective of eradicating racism from the game". The abuse that he received, particularly in the media, and the language that was used against him, I have not seen it before.

"He has been carrying this for years", Neville said.

CHELSEA fans have been warned bad behaviour will be acted upon at the Amex.

"Really as a coach, I'm being honest, I didn't really know how to deal with it", he said.

"We have been aware for a few months of the targeting Raheem faces in the press, it is evident that he is often singled out and treated more harshly than his colleagues".

"They're letting all the other people do the talking and they're getting on the pitch, and listen you don't go 17 games unbeaten unless you're a decent side".

"You think in football we'd be safe, but racism is everywhere".

Sterling was subjected to alleged racial abuse during Manchester City's Premier League defeat at Chelsea on Saturday. That is how it is.

Regardless of whether you believe that the fan accused of racially abusing Sterling is guilty, as the media have painted him out to be over the past few days, there were several people in the crowd being unnecessarily aggressive towards the England global. We can talk about it, but maybe we need to do a lot more about it.
