A relative of Kelsey Berreth - who was last seen on Thanksgiving Day but is presumed dead - tells PEOPLE she was "hoping ... we'd have more concrete details as to why" following a news conference Friday where authorities announced the arrest of Patrick Frazee, Berreth's fiancé and the father of their 1-year-old daughter.

"As you can tell from the arrest, sadly, we do not believe that Kelsey is still alive", De Young said.

Kelsey Berreth, 29, of Woodland Park, Colorado, was last seen shopping for groceries on Thanksgiving Day. Surveillance footage showed the young mom entering the store while carrying her daughter in a vehicle seat.

Berreth's disappearance was officially labeled a missing-person investigation until Friday, but De Young did call her disappearance "suspicious" last week and pleaded with Frazee to "sit down with investigators". Frazee was invited to the press conference but did not attend; officials said he is being cooperative. Formal charges will be filed in the next few days, he said, and affidavits are now sealed.

She was spotted on surveillance video with their 1-year-old daughter at a Safeway in Woodland Park that day and her cell phone pinged about 800 miles away in Idaho on November 25.

The disappearance of the young pilot mystified family and friends and led to national social media seeking any information on her whereabouts. "This is completely out of character".

Police said the only signs of Ms Berreth were some text messages from her cellphone.

The reward for information leading to finding Berreth is $25,000, Woodland Park police said.

Investigators who went to Berreth's home found cinnamon rolls in the kitchen and both of her cars outside.

Authorities also said its an "absolute possibility" that there could be an additional arrest in connection with the solicitation charge, but they declined to comment further. "She's reliable, considerate, and honest".

Mr Loew previously said his client provided police with DNA samples and access to his cellphone. Frazee also said she texted him that day, but the contents of that text haven't been released.

De Young said the police department applied for the arrest warrant Thursday evening.

Patrick Frazee runs a cattle ranch on his 35-acre property.

Three days after Berreth was last seen, a text was sent from her phone telling an employee at Doss Aviation, a flight school in Colorado Springs where she worked as an instructor, that she would be taking the rest of the week off.

Authorities said as many as 30 FBI agents are participating in the investigation in several states.
