Julian Assange's asylum at the embassy of Ecuador in London could end soon, if the Latin American nation goes ahead with its reported bid to expel the controversial Wikileaks founder.

On Thursday, Wikileaks tweeted that Assange could be expelled from the embassy within "hours to days".

But in December 2018, Moreno said the United Kingdom had assured him that, according to British law, Assange would not be extradited to a country where the Australian could face capital punishment-such as the US -the Associated Press reported.

The documents are known as the "INA Papers" that links Moreno and the Chinese company Sinohydro that built the Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric dam, which, according to the lawmaker, deposited US$18 million in the offshore company Recorsa.

WikiLeaks claimed Mr Moreno's remarks were in retribution for it having reported on corruption accusations against him, although he denied wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, on 28 March 2019, former Ecuadorian consul Fidel Narváez warned that Assange was under threat of prosecution in Ecuador for hacking information relating to the corruption scandal.

We're here to support free speech, we're here to support Julian Assange.

Mr Moreno today renewed his attack, telling the Ecuadorian Radio Broadcasters' Association that Mr Assange has "repeatedly violated" his terms of asylum. "He can not intervene in the politics of other countries, or worse, those of friendly countries".

"It is not that he can not speak and express himself freely, but he can not lie, nor much less hack private accounts or phones", Moreno said.

Ecuador reportedly secured one billion dollars in loans as part of an agreement with the U.S.to resolve matters with the hacker.

Although the Swedish investigation was dropped past year, Assange still faced charges in Britain for jumping bail.
