Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday he had invited United States leader to visit Moscow and was ready to travel to Washington for a new summit.

Putin said on Friday that he has already invited Trump to Moscow, and that he is "ready to come to Washington" to meet with Trump. The agency quoted Putin as saying "He has, by the way, such an invitation, and I him about it".

It would be Mr Trump's first visit to Moscow since 2013, when he took the Miss Universe beauty pageant, which he then owned, to the Russian capital.

However, he noted the right conditions and circumstances need to be arranged before another meeting can happen.

Putin and Trump met in Helsinki earlier this month, but Trump faced a storm of criticism for attending.

Trump will convene his national security advisers on Friday for a meeting on election security because his advisers have warned him Russian Federation continues efforts to interfere, less than four months before Americans vote to determine whether or not Republicans maintain control of Congress.

"In Helsinki, we talked about the issues in which our states have a real stake".

US intelligence agencies concluded a year ago that Moscow waged an influence campaign to help Trump win the White House by hacking into Democratic Party computers and using fake social media accounts to denigrate Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

"I understand perfectly that President Trump has a desire to hold further meetings, and I am ready to come to Washington if appropriate conditions for work are created".

The Russian leader appeared to shrug off Mr. Trump's political problems at home. "In 2021, the New START treaty expires", he said, referring to a nuclear arms control treaty. "We are not going to comment further on security procedures".

The president, his son, his lawyers and other administration officials have repeatedly said Trump did not know about the meeting until news of it broke in July 2017. Russian Federation and the United States have a stake in that, the whole word has a stake in that, in not starting an arms race.

"To be clear, we support a free press and ask that everyone be respectful of the presidency and guests at the White House", she said.

He said the global deal on Iran's nuclear program, from which Trump has withdrawn, was also an area that needed U.S. "There are some things you can't do over the phone", he added.
