LeBron James is committed to helping the people of Akron no matter where he plays basketball, and one of his biggest achievements officially became a reality on Monday. "Everything these kids are going through, the drugs, the violence, the guns, everything they're going through as kids, I know". On Sunday night, James was understandably nervous about what he called his "first day of school".
The school was a joint venture between his and the Akron, Ohio Public Schools and serves at-risk children in James's hometown. He told reporters earlier this year that his family would play a large role in his decision about where to play moving forward, before he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency.
On Monday morning, the doors of a brand new public school were opened in the Akron area.
